Deploying the next generation of peak power.
Fourth Power came out of a decade of federally funded research at MIT and Georgia Tech. A team of engineers, operators, and energy veterans is now putting it in the field. Launched 2023. $45M raised.
Built for the new peak.
Peak demand is being reshaped by electrification, AI, extreme weather, and a peaker fleet that's aging out just as the grid needs more capacity. Fourth Power stores electricity as heat and returns it on demand, at or below the lifetime cost of new gas. When the peak hits, we dispatch, running on power stored cheaply off-peak. A gigawatt-hour per acre makes this the most compact multi-day storage on the market. Plus, it consumes no water, has no fuel supply risk and no emissions to permit.
Operating in Massachusetts. Scaling what's next.
Demo 1: Induction Furnace Demonstration — long-term durability testing of core components at conditions beyond field operating requirements. Demo 2: Thermal Cycle Demonstration — tin-facing subsystem inside an inert environment, generating statistically significant datasets on hardware reliability. Demo 3: TPV Module Demonstration — validating Fourth Power’s patented approach to converting high-temperature heat back to electricity at full cross-section.

Why "Fourth Power"
Temperature
Light scales to the fourth power of temperature — the physics that makes the system work.
Conversion
The fourth power conversion in the chain from fusion to sunlight to electricity to stored heat and back.
Power
The electrical power delivered as a service.
Forward
Go fourth and lead the energy transition.
